🌱🔬 Second Grade Scientists Are Growing Their Knowledge! 🔬🌱 Our second graders have been busy exploring scientific texts, scientific ideas, and steps in a process! 📚✨ Last week, they wrapped Lima beans in wet paper towels, placed them in bags, and taped them to the window to see if water + sunlight = sprouts! 🌱☀️ This week, they’re planting grass seeds to create their very own “Grass Heads!” 🌿😄 They’re documenting each step of the process as they wait for their grass “hair” to grow. Hands-on learning, scientific thinking, and a little silliness make for some happy scientists! 💚🔬🌱 Our Sea Kings are racing to proficiency—one growing experiment at a time! 🏁👑🧡💙🧡

🇺🇸 Remembering September 11 🇺🇸 Our second graders spent time learning about September 11, 2001, exploring the history behind the day and learning about the many heroes who demonstrated courage, kindness, and selflessness. ❤️ To honor those who helped others and to keep their stories remembered, students created special paper-bag books celebrating the heroes of 9/11. Through learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations, our Sea Kings are remembering the past and honoring the heroes who made a difference. 🇺🇸💙 We Remember. We Honor. We Never Forget. 🕊️

🧡💙🧡Our kindergarteners kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with an exciting day of hands-on learning! The students spent the day diving into interactive centers, starting with a scavenger hunt in our Quest garden to learn more about our Hispanic heritage plant collection. We were also thrilled to welcome Mrs. Terwilliger from the Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District, who taught the class all about the incredible migration of Monarch Butterflies to Mexico, as well as the importance of plants and conservation. The learning didn't stop there! Students discovered how hummingbirds migrate through Mississippi on their way to Central and South America. To celebrate these amazing creatures, the class created beautiful hummingbird paintings and crafted their own butterfly feeders, carefully counting beads for their designs. They wrapped up the day by listening to audiobooks that brought each of their stations to life. We are so proud of our little learners for engaging so deeply with nature and culture!💙🧡💙 #HispanicHeritageMonth #KindergartenLearning #HandsOnLearning #Conservation #MonarchMigration #STEAMeducation
